I often wonder who the first person to decide to take the swollen root of a plant, skin it, chop it into slices and serve it, deep fried with battered fish. How did anyone discover that certain fruits, vegetables and meats are edible? More to the point, how many people died trying to find what was and wasn't edible!
And its not just individual food items either - who decided that eggs, flour, sugar and butter mixed together and baked for some time makes a cake?! Seriously how much more random can you get!
Also, which important person decided that a chair should be called a chair and not a turkey? Answer that! Or don't...your call...
